How does Acupuncture assist with fertility problems?
Acupuncture has been used for many centuries to improve overall well-being, and a healthier body has a greater chance of conceiving naturally. As well as improving general health, acupuncture can be used to treat specific conditions which affect fertility:

Emotional Disharmony.
Infertility can alter nearly every aspect of a person's life. Few situations in life are as challenging and overwhelming. The emotional aspects of infertility often go ignored and untreated, and because it is such a private issue, many couples do not share their experiences which can add to the problem.

Menstrual Disorders.
Amenorrhoea - no periods, Dysmenorrhoea- painful periods, irregular cycles, premenstrual syndrome, imbalanced follicular or luteal phases.

Threatened Miscarriage.
Miscarriage is very common. One in six pregnancies miscarry in the first trimester usually due to foetal abnormalities, after this uterine abnormalities or cervical incompetence are more common causes of miscarriage.

Endometriosis.
Endometriosis is a condition in which the endometrial tissue (the cells lining the interior of the uterus) grows in other parts of the pelvic cavity, outside the uterus

PCOS Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
PCOS is a condition characterized by multiple small benign cysts on the ovaries.

Abnormal Sperm.
Low sperm count (oligospermia) , Poor mortility (asthenospermia) , Poor morphology (teratozoospermia).

Varicoceles Enlarged veins round the testicles.

Erectile Dysfunction
Mostly this is a psychological issue and temporary.

Unexplained Infertility
Infertility is becoming an increasing problem. This may be attributed to high levels of stress, poor nutrition, alcohol, smoking, caffeine or pollutants from pesticides, plastics, toxic metals, food additives or man-made oestrogens in our water.
